Belfast International Airport is the fifth largest regional air cargo centre in the UK. The airport currently serves over 3.7 million passengers a year and is the principal gateway to the north of Ireland.Belfast airport has 2 runways and 1 terminal.
Belfast International Airport is situated just 18 miles northwest of Belfast. To get to the airport by car, it is easily accessible via a network of main roads and motorways. The check in desk is located at the entrance of the terminal. Your travel documents will tell you when the latest time you can check in for your flight is, but it is highly recommended that you do not wait for that time. Try to arrive at the airport with plenty of time to check in so you will have time to just relax and enjoy the airport before your flight.
The information desk is located in the arrivals hall where, if you have any problems, help is available. Within the airport, there are many services available. Banks and Bureau de change are available, also telephones and postal facilities.
Food halls are available located on the departure concourse where a wide range of restaurants, cafés, snacks, pubs and bars are on offer. Shopping within the airport will save you a lot of money as it is tax/duty free. Shops available are a pharmacy, sportswear shop, music store, gift shops, and newsagents where you can quickly pick up the last minute things that you need to purchase.
There are also other facilities available, such as baby care, located in the departure area. For your young children there is a play area. Other facilities such as a travel agency, a video games area, a photo booth and a viewing gallery are also available.
Belfast airport provide for the disabled. Wheelchairs are available from individual airlines, as well as from airport staff. It is advised that you book a wheelchair in advance when purchasing a ticket. There are parking spaces in the car parks for the disabled and lifts which transfer you to other levels. Telephones are provided on site if any help is needed and there are disabled toilets. A number of airport staff at the airports information desk are trained to use sign language, available on request.
