CARDIFF AIRPORT (CWL)

Cardiff "Wales" International Airport is located about 11 miles to the west of the city of Cardiff, which makes it ideal for onward connections to most of South Wales. Cardiff airport serves around 1.5 million passengers per year. The airport has 1 terminal and 1 runway. The airport’s runway is 2,354m long and 46m wide where up to 25 aircrafts take off every hour.

To get to the airport by car, the airport is situated in Rhoose, 12 miles west of Cardiff City Centre and 10 miles from Junction 33 on the M4. Click here for a Multimap showing the location of the airport.

The check in desk is located on the ground floor of the terminal directly opposite the main entrance of the terminal. Your travel documents will tell you when the latest time you can check in for your flight is but it is highly recommended that you do not wait for that time. Try to arrive at the airport with plenty of time to check in so you will have time to just relax and enjoy the airport before your flight.

The information desk is located on the first floor, where, if you have any problems, help is available.

Within the airport, there are many services available. Banks and Bureau de change are located in the departure hall. ATM machines are available in the check in hall. Other facilities are available such as baby change rooms equipped with changing tables, nappy dispensers and other essential equipment. Children aged 2 to 8 years can enjoy the play area in the departure area.

Food halls are located within the airport, where a wide range of restaurants, cafés, snacks, pubs and bars are on offer. Shopping within the airport will save you a lot of money, as it is tax/duty free. Shops available include a pharmacy, a sportswear shop, a leather goods shop, a music store, gift shops, and newsagents where you can quickly pick up that last minute thing that you need to purchase.

Cardiff airport provide for the disabled. Dedicated spaces in the car parks are available, airport wheelchairs available throughout the airport on request, lifts between all floors, specially designed toilets on the first floor, departure lounge and arrivals hall. At the information desk, minicom facility for the deaf or hard of hearing is available.
