Manchester Airport is the UK's fourth largest airport, handling 20 million passengers per year, offering direct flights to over 180 destinations worldwide by over 90 airlines. Within 15 years, Manchester airport is expected to become the second busiest airport in the UK.

Situated 10 miles south of Manchester city centre the airport is well served by train, bus and coach services with good road links for those travelling by car. To get to the airport by car, no matter where you are travelling from, Manchester airport is directly accessible via J5 off the M56. The check in desks is located at the entrances of each terminal. Flight and check in information is displayed at the entrance to each check in area. You should check in at least 2 hours before your departure to avoid any problems. In all of the departure lounges, there are many services available such as food halls, clothing stores and general needs such as toilets, ATMs telephones etc. A Left Luggage service is available in terminal 1 and 2 at a price of £5 per item per 24 hours.

The airport has over 90 shops, restaurants and bars, and has a new facility under development called The Station. Persons needing special services such as wheelchairs should make themselves known to the Specialist Airport Services office.
