Stansted Airport is the fourth busiest airport in the UK. It is also the fastest growing major airport in Europe and the main home of the leading low-cost scheduled airlines. An extension to the terminal building opened in April 2002 costing £60 million. Stansted airport has only 1 terminal and 1 runway, serving 20 airlines that go to 114 destinations and has around 18.7 million passengers annually.

The check-in desks are opposite and to the left of the main entrance to the terminal building. Flight and check-in information is displayed at the entrance to each check-in area. There are no flight announcements in the terminal. You should check in at least 2 hours before your scheduled departure.
In the departure lounge, there are lots of food halls, shops and general conveniences such as toilets, ATMs, wheelchair access and currency exchange desks located near access to departure gates.
There are many different shops within the airport. You can pick up some last minute toiletries in Boots and the Body Shop, swimwear in many of the sports shops, flight entertainment and much, much more.
