China is the one of the world's largest country, which comes forth after, Russia, Canada and the U.S. and is also the seventh largest economy. China is around the same size as the continental 48 states in the United States of America, excluding Hawaii and Alaska. Much of the land in China is mountainous or unsuited to agriculture.
The population in China is huge amount compared to the anywhere in the world including the United States of America. China’s population is around 1.3 Billion people, which is over 25 percent of the world's total.
There are many airports within China. Since 1990, China has built 25 airports. An additional 48 have been upgraded, China has not been slow to invest in airports - $12.2 billion has been invested in airport construction and upgrading since 1980. The main airport in China, Beijing International Airport, is also one of the largest in the world. There are many transport services to get you to where you want to go. In Beijing International Airport, there is a bus counter where you are able to purchase a bus ticket for around 10yuan, which is around 60pence. The bus picks up passengers right outside the terminal and stops at several points en route to the city centre. If buses are not to be seen, there are many taxi services all around all the airports. In every airport in China you are able to hire a rental car, there are companies such as International Airport Service but shop around for the best prices. Train services are also available.
The Chinese language is probably the hardest language to learn, as there is no alphabet like the English language. The words are made up of symbols and read backwards! There are many different languages which are spoken throughout China. There are two common languages spoken, one of which is China’s official language, Mandarin, where around 70% of the Chinese people speak this language. The people in China call it Putonghua. The other is Cantonese where approximately 64 million people speak this language. Cantonese is spoken in Guangdong, southern Guangxi, and Hong Kong and is also spoken in other countries such as Malaysia, Vietnam, Macao, Singapore and Indonesia.
There are many beautiful sites for you to tour and enjoy, the most common tourist attraction is The Great Wall of China. The Great Wall is one of the largest man-made building construction projects ever completed. It stretches across the mountains of northern China, winding north and northwest of Beijing and is 4,000 miles long. This is a "must", if you are travelling to China your holiday will not be complete until you see or experience The Great Wall. There are also many different tourists attractions such as city tours where a tour guide would take you around to see many of the different cities. Another great place is Summer Palace; the Temple of Heaven is a "must" to visit for every tourist coming to Beijing.
