Location Of Jersey
Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, lying approximately 100
miles south of the coast of England and 14 miles from the coast of
Normandy in France. The island is roughly 9 miles by 5 miles. It
slopes from north to south and often appears to visitors to be largely
composed of pink granite. Jersey has over 20 bays, many small harbours
and magnificent beaches bathed by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream.
Airports
St Peter's airport is about 5 miles from St Helier. Taxis are available
and the local bus leaves for St Helier centre every 20 minutes.
Language
English is the official language. A version of Norman French is still
spoken by some people.
Places To Go
The largest of the Channel Islands, Jersey is highly developed for
tourism. It boasts a formidable array, for its small size, of modern
attractions and special events catering for its huge number of visitors.
The island does not neglect its natural and historical heritage though & #8211;
there is plenty of historical interest as well as many beautiful
scenic attractions.
