Location Of Macedonia
Macedonia is located in Europe is roughly rectangular in shape, and
on the strategic Vardar Valley north–south communications route,
Macedonia is landlocked, bordering Serbia to the north, Albania to
the west, Greece to the south and Bulgaria to the east.
Airports
Skopje airport is 16 miles from the city. Taxis and buses are available
to the city centre and it takes about 25-30 minutes to get there.
Language
Macedonian is the most widely used language. Ethnic groups also use
Albanian, Turkish and Serbo-Croat. English, French and German are
widely spoken.
Places To Go
Macedonia is a mountainous land right at the heart of the Balkans.
Its churches and mosques contain many fine examples of art and architecture
from the Byzantine and Ottoman periods. Macedonia’s capital
is largely new, owing to an earthquake in 1963. There is, however,
plenty to see. Skopje Old Town is the most attractive quarter of
the city. It is full of shops and restaurants. There are also extensive
holy and historical sights to be seen in this lovely and quaint city.
