Location of Slovakia
Slovakia is situated in Central Europe, sharing frontiers with the
Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Hungary and Ukraine. Mountains,
lowlands, canyons, lakes, cave formations, forests and meadows provide
many examples of Slovakia’s year-round breathtaking natural
beauty. Slovakia is a small country but its terrain varies impressively
from lowlands to mountain ranges. The Carpathian Arc, a range of
mountains stretching across the north, takes up almost a half of
the country.

Places To Go:
Other than the Alps, the Slovak Republic offers what may be Europe’s
most exciting landscape & #8211; from the Danube plain to towering
mountain peaks and quiet valleys, and glacial lakes with crystal-clear
waters. There are seven national parks and 16 protected landscape areas,
featuring well-preserved natural environments, the unique Carpathian
landscape and remnants of the original virgin forests. Forests cover
two-thirds of the country, the rest is agricultural land. Theatre and
opera are of a high standard. Much of the nightlife takes place in
hotels, although nightclubs are to be found in major cities.
