Thailand lies in the heart of Southeast Asia, Thailand is divided into four natural regions, In the north lies the mountains and forests, the Central Plains are where the vast rice fields are; the Northeast plateau are the semi-arid farm lands; and the South Peninsula are where the tropical islands and long coastlines are.
The population of Thailand is around 62 million where 80% are Thai, 10% are Chinese, 3% are Malay and the rest are minorities. 95% of Thai’s in Thailand are Buddhist, 4% are Muslim and 1% other.
The capital city in Thailand is Bangkok.
There are many airports within Thailand. The main airport in Thailand is Bangkok International Airport (BIA). Bangkok airport has the most air traffic in Thailand. These days, around 80 airlines are on service, over 25,000,000 passengers, 160,000 flights and 700,000 tons of cargo is handled at Bangkok airport. With its correct location, large and spacious terminal and great facilities as well as standard service, Bangkok airport then becomes the appropriate connection point of international civil aviation routes for this region.
There is a main route in which links Bangkok airport to down town, which is called Vibhavadi Rangsit. Another form of transport is the toll-way and expressways which makes the passengers' trip more convenient and faster. Other than travelling by road, a train service is another choice for travelling down town, only taking 30 minutes. The railway station is linked to the airport by a walkway bridge, which is directly opposite the airport. Car rental services, taximeter and airport buses are also available.
The Thai language is a tonal language similar to Chinese; there actually are hundreds of similar words in Thai and Chinese. Many of these words may be cultural borrowings, mostly by the Thais, after long and continual contact with the Chinese. On the other hand, there are certain classes of words in which obviously were derived from common sources in ancient times. More importantly, beyond the similarities of a single word, the Thai and the Chinese language are structured in much the same way. Although when written, the Thai and Chinese languages are completely different from each other.
There are many beautiful sites and islands for you to tour and enjoy, A few beautiful islands such as Koh Samui, Puhket, Kribi and Pattaya, which has beautiful white sand and crystal blue seas. There are also many Temples to visit where you are able to feel the countries religion of Buddhism. There are also many different tourist attractions such as city tours where a tour guide would take you around to see many of the different cities.
Shopping is a must when travelling to Thailand, as there are so many cheap and beautiful things on offer. Thailand is one of the world's leading manufacturers of ready-to-wear clothing. Custom tailoring is also available and very affordable; a tailor can produce or copy most styles in just a few days.
