Location Of Turkey
The Black Sea, Georgia and Armenia border Turkey to the north-east,
Iran to the east, Iraq to the south-east, the Syrian Arab Republic
and the Mediterranean to the south, the Aegean Sea to the west and
Greece and Bulgaria to the north-west. Two east–west mountain
ranges, the Black Sea Mountains in the north and the Taurus in the
south, enclose the central Anatolian plateau, but converge in a vast
mountainous region in the far east of the country.
Airports
Ankara international airport is 22 miles north-east of the city. Buses
go from the city 1hr 30 minutes before domestic flights and 2 hrs
15 minutes before international flights.

Izmir airport. A bus leaves from the city 1 hr 15 minutes before departure.
Sabiha Gökçen airport is 25 miles from the Istanbul, on the Asian side. There are shuttle bus services to the city and the travel time is around 30-45 minutes and to Atatürk International Airport the travel time is about 60-70 minutes. Taxis are available 24 hours a day.

The official language is Turkish. A minority in the south-east also
speaks Kurdish. French, German and English are widely spoken in cities
and tourist areas.
Places To Go
Turkey is truly a land of contrasts. Here you can scale the icy heights
of remote Mount Ararat in search of Noah’s Ark, cross the historic
Euphrates and Tigris rivers, follow in the footsteps of St. Paul
or simply relax on the golden Mediterranean sands of Patara beach.
Vibrant Istanbul, straddling the blue waters of the Bosphorus separating
Europe from Asia, beckons with its skyline pierced by countless minarets,
chaotic bazaars and a history redolent with harem intrigue and despotic
Sultans. There are nightclubs in most main centres, either Western
or Oriental, with music and dancing. There are theatres for concerts
in Izmir, Istanbul and Ankara, and most towns have cinemas. Turkish
baths (hamam) are popular.
